Slalom Start Beginners Courses 2025
This 12-week course runs from 21st/22nd April to early July. It will give a full introduction to canoe slalom and equip young paddlers with the skills and confidence to attend beginner-level slalom races.
The course is suitable either as a standalone course or for those who wish to join our junior section (MCC Marlins) in July. It is aimed at ages 8-11 but we are happy to take slightly older or younger children if they are particularly keen. Friends and siblings are welcome to join together. Please note that parents must remain on-site during sessions (refreshments will be provided).
The course includes 10 evening sessions at Manchester Canoe Club and an off-site training day at Stafford & Stone Canoe Club, as well as coaching and support for slalom events at Marple, Stone and Oughtibridge. Please see the link below for a full agenda.
The course price of £80 covers:
- Coached sessions with our experienced, fully accredited slalom coaches
- Informal peer information sessions for parents
- Kit hire, including boat, paddle, buoyancy aid, helmet and spraydeck
- Entry fee and coach support at the Marple Slalom event
- Coach support at both Stone and Oughtibridge Slalom events
Those who choose to continue with MCC Marlins weekly sessions after the course will also get the following for FREE:
- Manchester Canoe Club membership until end of December 2025
- Weekly coached evening sessions at Manchester Canoe Club
- Use of boat and kit for all club events and off-site races until the end of 2025
