<i>Slalom Start</i>&nbsp;Beginners Courses 2025

This 12-week course runs from 21st/22nd April to early July. It will give a full introduction to canoe slalom and equip young paddlers  with the skills and confidence to attend beginner-level slalom races.&nbsp;

The course is suitable either as a standalone course or for those who wish to join our junior section (MCC Marlins) in July. It is aimed at ages 8-11 but we are happy to&nbsp;take slightly older or younger children if they are particularly keen. Friends and siblings are welcome to join together. Please note that parents must remain on-site during sessions (refreshments will be provided).

The course includes&nbsp;10 evening sessions at Manchester Canoe Club and&nbsp;an off-site training day at Stafford &amp; Stone Canoe Club, as well as coaching&nbsp;and support for slalom events at&nbsp;Marple, Stone and Oughtibridge. Please see the link below for a full agenda.

Those who choose to&nbsp;continue with&nbsp;MCC Marlins weekly sessions after the course will also get the following for FREE:

Bookings Now Open for Slalom Beginners Courses!

Join us for a weekend of fun on the river, with camping and refreshments on-site. As well as our usual Div 3/4/Open slalom, we have a full schedule of fun events for all the family.

Camping available from 6pm on Friday 2nd May (£5 donation per family group per night - volunteers camp for free).

No roof rack, no problem! Boats available to borrow if needed, including K1, C1 and C2.

Welcome to Manchester Canoe Club!

We are a friendly, volunteer-run club that welcomes new members of all abilities. Nestled on the banks of the River Goyt just outside Marple, we specialise in canoe slalom and whitewater kayaking. Please get in touch if you would like to pay us a visit. We hope to see you on the water soon!
